Hold my beer – that’s how best stories begin. Or at least many good ideas. And that’s of course how it started for us too. After innumerable nights spent at pubs and taprooms in London, several pints and lots of chats, we developed our idea further into plans. That was just the beginning though, as we first had to find the best location for it, and then also getting the place; but after a few arduous months, we finally got it. Next step: quit our jobs. That also meant disappointing a few great people that were counting on our dedication for at least another few years: it wasn’t easy at all, but also inevitable.

That’s when things actually started: we had to find a good manufacturer for our brewing equipment, get all the building permits sorted - after something like 400 calls with almost every public office in the city – and figure out a way of building a brewpub distributed on 3 different floors in a 15-story skyscraper. It meant researching, checking plans, drawings and having even more phone calls to get our project finalised.

Finally, here we are: 8 months later the building works have started! We're not done planning though, as we still had to figure out how our bar, furniture and glassware should look like. So after playing around with different materials, building a few bar mockups and trialling out every beer glass we could think of (yes, the only way of choosing the perfect glass for each of our beers was spending weeks drinking out of all of them), we got a better feeling of what would fit in our Tankbierbar.

And that’s how every day goes on: researching, planning, trialling and sorting things out in order to have everything ready before the Summer! And if you are wondering "will they also have enough time to think about the beer recipes?", don’t worry! We spent the whole last Summer brewing on a small scale what we will be serving you once we're up and running! 🤟🏼
